The story of Anna Nicole Smith's life and her untimely death has been turned into a revealing documentary for giant streaming platform Netflix, but not everyone is happy with the production.
The late star's widow, Larry Birkhead, has hit out at the company for going ahead with the production, brutally labelling it an "overwhelmingly poorly reviewed cesspool of a project".
Model Anna Nicole died at the age of 39 in 2007 after an accidental drug overdose.
And Larry has now revealed the reasons he strongly rejected any approach to be in the documentary and explained why he also opted for his and Anna Nicole's daughter Dannielynn not to take part.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Larry said people had been "allowed to invent things and rewrite history".
He said: "I am looking forward to a true definitive Anna Nicole project where her truth can be heard from her own perspective and by those that truly knew her the best and not just another 'wash, rinse and repeat' Anna Nicole project. Anna truly deserved better and that day will come."
The latest Netflix documentary, titled Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me, is billed by the platform as offering a "humanizing examination of the life, death and secrets of Vickie Lynn Hogan -- better known as model and actress Anna Nicole Smith".
It continues to state: "From her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, Anna Nicole’s dizzying ascent was the very essence of the American dream, brought to a tragic halt with her untimely passing in 2007."
The documentary also looks into the star's life as a child in Texas, her first marriage at the age of 17, the birth of her son, Daniel, and her decision to do whatever she could to flee her hometown and create a better life for herself and Daniel.
You Don't Know Me also takes a look at the model's controversial marriage to 89-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall, with one interviewee noting in the teaser clip how much they genuinely "loved each other."
Her daughter Daniellyn was just a few months old at the time of Anna Nicole's death, but received a large inheritance from her mum.
