Anglesey holiday park sold with major new investment programme planned

A holiday retreat on Anglesey is set to get a significant upgrade after being purchased by the Actually Group in a combined investment of nearly £3m.

The £1.3m sale of Glan Morfa, on the outskirts of of Llangaffo in south west Anglesey, completed this month.

UK hospitality and leisure developer has pledged to invest a further £1.5m to improve the quality of the accommodation and other facilities on the site.

The Actually Group also owns and operates Rwst, a 4-star holiday lodge park in Llanrwst, which they also revamped.

Glan Morfa is home to seven attractive stone holiday cottages, which were converted from derelict farm outbuildings and a milking parlour in the 1990s.

On the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the accommodation is set in 37 acres of land, part of which is managed as a nature reserve and the site recently won the accolade of a Green Tourism Gold Award.

The cottages are powered exclusively by renewable energy, including air source heat pumps, solar energy, and an on-site wind turbine. A reed bed system manages waste water, there are bird hides for nature enthusiasts to watch resident species including barn owls, osprey, and buzzards. The site even hosts the beehives of a local honey farmer.

The Actually Group says that upgrade works will include a full refurbishment of the seven cottages, as well as improvements to a games room, library, and laundry room. Works will be planned around existing bookings, with no disruption envisaged for guests.

As part of the upgrade works, Glan Morfa will also get a new website and brand refresh.

Local suppliers working on the redevelopment project include Anglesey-based digital design and branding agency Creatives Meet, and North Wales contractor TB Jones carpentry and joinery.

Rhodri Andrews, marketing director at the Actually Group, said: “Glan Morfa is an absolute gem of a holiday retreat, and we know that it is particularly well loved by environmentally conscious visitors who want to holiday with the lightest possible carbon footprint.

“We are delighted to have completed on our purchase, and we’re excited by the opportunity that further investment into the site will deliver for green tourism on Anglesey.”

Actually has an administrative office in Colwyn Bay, and across its operational, administrative, and marketing teams, the group employs a team of 32.
