Anger at youths vandalising Nottinghamshire pub and swearing at staff

Licensees have hit out at a group of youths who have being plaguing their pub. The Badger Box in Kirkby-in-Ashfield has been vandalised and the staff sworn at.

In a message on Facebook, they said: "For a while now we have been having a lot of trouble with kids ages between 10-14/15 trespassing in our back garden, throwing stones at cars driving on the main road and now vandalising our pub. When they are confronted all we and our staff get is abuse, being sworn at and being called all names under the sun.

"All we ask is if your child is part of a group of 10+ kids dressed in black, some on bikes roaming the streets, can you have a word please and ask them to stay away as the police are now involved due to criminal damage and abuse our staff are getting.

"There will be serious consequences for them if it continues and they are caught by the police. We will not tolerate any abuse by kids or adults."

The incidents have been reported to police and licensee Andy Henry added: "They are now on patrol every day around the area. They have asked every time there is any incident, however small, for us to report it."

It isn't just the pub, in Derby Road, that's being targeted. The troublemakers have also been proving a nuisance to local residents.

A householder living near the pub said the youths had thrown tomatoes and apples at her windows and they knocked over bins. Another, who lives on the new estate across the road, said: "These kids cause trouble for us too, throwing stones at our cars and windows, hurling abuse if you confront them."

Nottinghamshire Live has contacted the Badger Box and Nottinghamshire Police for comment.
