The cast of Angels of the North have been handed a huge boost as the new series delights fans, with the news that it will also be on BBC One.
It's now been three years since the show, centered on Longlox supersalon in Gateshead made its debut on BBC iPlayer, with it taking little time to become a binge watch favourite amongst viewers. A second series was quickly commissioned but, given that production started on that in early 2020, it was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, as Longlox owner Sammyjo Pearson broke the news to staff that she'd be closing its doors.
As lockdown ended, BBC cameras returned to Tyneside later in the year to pick up where they left off, before coming back again to shoot footage for a third run. And this week, after the show has racked up over 9 million streams, all of series four of Angels of North was made available on iPlayer, as well as becoming a flag ship show on BBC Three, following its relaunch as a full TV channel earlier this year.
