Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s marriage may officially be over, but their legal battle over French winery Château Miraval is still lingering. The latest chapter has Jolie pushing back against her ex-husband’s efforts to obtain additional details about her personal finances, according to a report in TMZ citing court records. Pitt’s legal team has asked for Jolie’s income records from 2017 through 2019, including money she may have received through Hollywood deals.
Jolie, who has already agreed to provide specific financial documents from 2020 and 2021, is of the opinion that there is no point getting into her finances further and it would cross a privacy line, stressing that it has little to do with the central dispute over the French winery. The latest disagreement adds more drama to a legal fight that has stretched on for years.

WHY DOES BRAD PITT WANT MORE OF ANGELINA JOLIE’S FINANCIAL RECORDS?
The latest dispute comes down to how much of Jolie’s financial history should be considered relevant to the Miraval case. According to TMZ, Pitt’s lawyers argue that records from the years following the couple’s 2016 separation could provide important context after Jolie previously referred to giving up years of compensation and experiencing economic coercion connected to the winery dispute.
Jolie’s side is challenging that argument as the actress says she deliberately reduced her professional workload during that particular period so that she could focus on her children. She also maintains that receiving money from earlier back-end entertainment deals would not change the fact that she was taking on less work.
As per the report, Jolie's attorneys have further argued that Jolie’s references to seeking 'financial independence' were about separating her finances and life from Pitt rather than claiming she had no money of her own. Jolie also contends that requests for additional records are unnecessarily intrusive and unrelated to the core issues surrounding the attempted sale of her Miraval interest to Pitt.

BRAD PITT AND ANGELINA JOLIE’S MIRAVAL FIGHT IS FAR FROM OVER
According to HOLA, Pitt and Jolie acquired Château Miraval in 2008, and then used the property for their wedding ceremony in 2014 in south France. After their divorce, the property became an epicenter of the legal dispute. In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her company that owned the property to Tenute del Mondo.
Pitt later filed a suit a year later accusing Jolie that she had breached an agreement that both parties would not sell their respective interests in the property without the approval of the other party. Jolie denies this claim and has added that the failure of the former to buy her share is due to a non-disclosure agreement.
Pitt and Jolie's divorce may have been amicably resolved by the end of 2024 but the winery issue remains unresolved. In fact, Pitt and Jolie are set to appear in court once again, scheduled for October 6.
