Angela Scanlon's 'pale girl makeup' includes a £13 mascara in an unexpected – but very flattering – shade

Our beauty team never tires of hearing about other people’s hair, makeup and skincare routines, famous or not. That includes celebrities, whose recommendations will always pique our interest. Lately, we’ve been enjoying hearing about Angela Scanlon’s go-tos – and one particular makeup product caught our eye for being unexpected, flattering and on-trend.

The presenter has spoken about ditching fake tan and bronzers in favour of embracing her naturally pale skin – recently taking to Instagram to share a selection of her ‘pale girl makeup’ favourites in a video.

One surprising item not only suits her complexion down to a T, but is also an ultra-flattering makeup trend that’s boomed in the past few years: soft burgundy mascara. Namely, the viral Maybelline Sky High Mascara in the shade Burgundy Haze.

RRP: £12.99

“This is my secret weapon as a redhead,” she told fans, holding up the mascara in question. “[In the shade] Burgundy Haze, and honestly, it's just so lovely and soft with our colouring.” Although burgundy isn't the most obvious choice of mascara shade, it's a brilliant option for paler complexions as it intensifies the lashes without looking harsh, as black sometimes can.

As fans of Maybelline Sky High Mascara ourselves, we can confirm it’s brilliant – lifting and lengthening lashes with ease, and a “just right” level of volume that defines without leaving lashes looking claggy or clumpy.

This wasn’t the only affordable product that made Angela’s cut. Also among her pale girl go-tos were a glowy primer from Rimmel and the Schwarzkopf got2b Glued for Brows and Edges – which costs less than £6. She also name-checked the bestselling CC cream by Erborian in the shade Clair.

RRP: £12.99

A glowy primer that doubles as a base, Angela says: "It is unbelievable... beautiful, glowy coverage."

Schwarzkopf got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2 in 1 Hair Gel

RRP: £5.85

An ultra affordable clear brow gel that also doubles as a flyaway smoother.

Erborian CC Crème in Clair

RRP: £20 for 15ml

Lightweight and glowy, Erborian's famous CC cream colour corrects and moisturises for a healthy finish.

As if she wasn’t already, these clever - and surprising - recommendations have cemented Angela as one of our go-to girls for beauty tip-offs for pale skin.
