Angela Rayner makes surprise Parklife appearance alongside Made In Chelsea star

Thunderstorms may have temporarily forced a pause on proceedings at Parklife 2023 earlier today, but not even a bit of rain can really make the party stop.

With the sunshine at Heaton Park now back in full gear (for the time being, at least), revellers have been getting back into the festival spirit with performances from The 1975 and The Prodigy still to come.

Amongst the 70,000 people expected to be in attendance include Stockport's own Angela Rayner. The Deputy Leader of the Labour Party was spotted hanging out backstage at the festival with Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo.

The two posed for a picture together, with former I’m A Celebrity winner Toff tweeting: “Never kissed a Tory x”

One fan responded: "Angela at parklife, my northern queen <3". Another said: "angie at parklife labour are deffo getting my vote".

It’s not the first time the Ashton-under-Lyne MP has been spotted at Parklife. Last year, Ms Rayner was photographed enjoying Lewis Capaldi from a viewing platform at the side of the main stage.

Yesterday, Ms Rayner said she felt former Prime Minister Boris Johnson was a ‘disgrace’ over his resignation as an MP during the Partygate investigation.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, she said: "To me, he is a coward. He knows that the Privileges Committee has seen through this fiasco and he has jumped.

"He could have defended himself, he could have gone to his constituents and fought the suspension, and he has decided he is not doing to do that because he knows he is in the wrong. And he has never apologised to what he has done to the British people… he has basically been gaslighting the nation, and I think he is a disgrace."

Meanwhile, back at Parklife, fans are expecting a return to form this evening after hot weather mixed with thunderstorms put a temporary 'full show stop' to the festival. Fans were left without music and seeking shelter for more than an hour and a half as the weather passed.
