Ange will whip lazy Tottenham stars into shape but Kyogo would be biggest Celtic loss since Kenny Dalglish - Hotline

No surprise what was the major talking point on the Hotline with Celtic fans resigned to losing Ange Postecoglou to Spurs.

And there was sympathy for Partick Thistle after the Jags blew a 3-0 aggregate lead to lose the Premiership play-off final to Ross County. Dominating, though, was the Postecoglou situation.

Lewis Doyle, Tipperary, said: "No man is bigger than Celtic. (Jock Stein once said). If Ange goes he goes, Celtic will still be there. "There aren't many managers who can work with Levy, their chairman. He has shown in the past that he lacks patience. Whatever Ange does I wish him all the best." Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: "Extremely disappointed in Ange leaving, but to be honest that's just the way it is nowadays. We can't compete money wise with these teams. But he is in the incredible history of Celtic. All the best mate."

Jimmy Murray, Edinburgh, said: "I see so called Celtic fans have managed to pull Brendan Rodgers into the latest Celtic manager situation. Why can’t they get it through their heads that Rodgers, like Dom McKay, walked because they wanted to drag the club into the 21st century but the Board were quite happy with being tops in Scotland. And incidentally Rodgers won every tournament he entered plus leaving Neil Lennon an eight point lead in the league before he went."

Dr Robert Pender said: "Four months back I said the talk in North London was that the Celtic manager was Spurs' target. I wish him well as he takes on lazy stars who think they are bigger than the club. They'll soon wake up to reality that this new manager is a tough nut."

Jim McClean, Rothesay, said: "If Ange goes to Spurs as it looks like Celtic supporters will need to get used to losing their stars as the big man will come and raid Celtic." Stephen Mulhern emailed: "I fully understand Postecoglou leaving wanting to test himself against teams like Liverpool and not Livingston.

"However I’m hoping Kyogo doesn’t join him who would be the biggest loss to Celtic supporters since Kenny Dalglish left for Liverpool in 1977."

Scott Kerr, Knightswood, said: "Congratulations Celtic on the 8th Treble. It's an outstanding achievement that the mob from the South Side will never match." Onto the play-off drama and John Scott, Chesterfield, said: "Well done Ross County on winning a remarkable playoff game. I can't believe how excited I felt watching a game that didn't involve Hibs or Scotland.

"However what a loss to the top league not seeing Partick promoted. From their fantastic, colourful support to their highly entertaining team they would have been a fantastic addition to the cinch Premiership. Next year's Championship will be highly competitive and Partick will need to push even harder to get promoted. I am sure I will not be alone in wishing them well and hope they make it."

Hugh McKirdy added: "I'm an Aberdeen fan but I urge Partick Thistle to keep playing the way there playing and they'll win the Championship next season! They've been a joy to watch recently."
