Ange Postecoglou says Jota a 'main culprit' for Celtic performance dip despite stunning goal v Aberdeen

Ange Postecoglou says Jota a 'main culprit' for Celtic performance dip despite stunning goal v Aberdeen

A WIN is a win, but Ange Postecoglou was not overly impressed with Celtic's performance vs Aberdeen.

The Hoops ran out 2-0 winners at Parkhead thanks to goals from Stephen Welsh and a stunner from Jota.

It was far from a vintage performance from Celtic and manager Postecoglou made his feelings known at full-time.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "Yeah, it was alright.

"I thought for the first half hour we were good and we got the early goal.

"We were in control and aggressive and then we got a bit slack just before half time.

"I thought we addressed that in the second half.

"I thought we were quite wasteful in front of goal and we should've been a couple more clear.

"You can be patient but if you get chances then you've got to take them and i thought we had good chances that weren't good enough when we could've changed the game."

On Jota, the Aussie added: "It's a good goal. He’s (Jota) got that in his locker where he can take people on. I thought he started well but he was one of the main culprits to why we fell away.

"I said to the boys you can have lofty ambitions but you can’t be at 90% and achieve what we want. They addressed that in the second half.

"It’s game one of 50 odd game season so there’s no one here more important than anyone else. Welsh has impressed in pre-season so it’s been important for him and Cam to be on it and they have been good. I thought he was strong."
