Ange Postecoglou says ‘appropriate action’ will be taken against Alexandro Bernabei, and is coy on Celtic link to Sead Haksabanovic

Alexandro Bernabei will be in the Celtic squad this weekend.

CELTIC defender Alexandro Bernabei will be in the matchday squad to face Hearts this weekend despite being charged by police earlier this week for drink-driving.

The Argentine, who arrived at the club this summer in a £3.5m move from Lanus, is alleged to have driven while over the legal limit after reportedly being refused entry to a nightclub in Glasgow city centre on Sunday night following his side’s 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou addressed the 21-year-old’s situation yesterday, and said that he would continue to consider him for selection while the case unfolds.

“Yeah he’s training and he’s available,” Postecoglou said.

"There are processes in place internally and externally.

"We will let them run their course and will then take appropriate action.”

Meanwhile, Postecoglou was tight-lipped about a potential cut-price move for Rubin Kazan attacker Sead Haksabanovic, with reports in Russia suggesting he has his heart set on a move to the Scottish champions.

The Montenegrin winger has been training in Sweden following a loan move to Djurgarden, and has no intention of returning to Russia, with four clubs reported to have an interest in securing the services of the 23-year-old.

Postecoglou wouldn’t discuss any move for Haksabanovic specifically, but didn’t rule out the possibility.

"There are ten days to go in the window and if the right player and opportunity comes along, then we will be ready for it,” he said.

"We have been linked with a lot of players but if we get a deal done, we will announce it. There is no secret that we are still looking to bring one or two in.

“We’re agile, we’re looking for the right person to bring in. If that right person is available and we can do a deal, we’ll do a deal. “I’ve been pretty consistent. I’ve said if we can get a player who can play in a variety of positions, it’s just got to be the ideal player. “Our recruitment this year has been around making our squad stronger and more robust compared to last year. If you look at the players we’ve brought in, that’s what they’ve added to our squad. “It’s not a specific area, as such, in terms of position. It’s more that if we can find a player or a couple of players who can play more than one position, it’ll help us.”
