Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will want to test himself at a level higher than the Scottish Premiership, according to Kris Commons, but he'll be in Glasgow for a long time yet.
The Australian has already achieved hero status at Parkhead since arriving in summer 2021 after overseeing a major rebuild that's brought high-tempo attacking football plus a Premiership title. A proud moment awaits on Tuesday when Real Madrid come to Glasgow for a match with Celtic in the Champions League, all of this off the back of last year, where Postecoglou was widely doubted by critics.
Former Hoops midfielder Commons says his work has been so impressive that other clubs will see him as a future candidates for their team, but a lengthy Celtic stint may beckon. He wrote in his Daily Mail column: "Ange Postecoglou had the last laugh on anyone who questioned his ability to manage in Britain last season. "Exciting, attacking football that's delivering results. What's not to like? None of this will have escaped the notice of clubs in England and elsewhere in Europe, but anyone with a vacancy to fill would be wasting their time testing the water at the moment.
"Postecoglou has spent his entire managerial career craving the kind of opportunity Celtic have given him. His side will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League. It's the stuff childhood dreams are made of.
"He'll naturally have ambitions to manage in a bigger league at some point but that will be far from his thoughts at the moment. At the very least, he’ll remain at Celtic for this season and it wouldn’t surprise me if he's here for a few more."
