Ange Postecoglou pictured at Lord’s as Tottenham boss told he should be jetting out to hold Harry Kane showdown talks

Ange Postecoglou has been pictured taking in the Ashes at Lord's as the former Celtic boss has been told he should have flown out to interrupt Harry Kane's holiday to accelerate 'showdown' talks.

That is the view of Celtic-daft Alan Brazil who says it should have been the Aussie's priority to meet face to face with the Spurs hitman before he reports for pre-season. The talkSPORT pundit was responding to reports that state the former Hoops boss will sit down with his prize asset amid swirling transfer links to Bayern Munich. It's suggested Kane could garner a fee of around £70million should he leave the North London side.

The 29-year-old is not due to return home and meet Postecoglou for the first time until July 12, with the Aussie already moving to secure the signing of James Maddison for around £40million from Brendan Rodgers' old club Leicester City. But Brazil reckons it was a misstep on Postecoglou's part not to reach out to his talisman and hold crunch talks before his break.

Reports suggest Daniel Levy's club could be tempted with a £100million plus bid for Kane, but the former Scotland international concurred with co-host Ray Parlour who first floated the idea of Postecoglou's impromptu trip.

Parlour said on Talksport: "I would have flown him out earlier," before Brazil added: "Exactly, you're spot on. I would have said 'Harry, I'm getting on a plane, just give me a couple of hours please'. You have to. It's his plans as well [Ange], so is he going to have £80million to spend? Bayern are talking about seventy, eight maybe. Daniel [Levy] has a dilemma too, does he say 'I don't want you to go anywhere' and then Kane walks away for free?

"You would have thought these talks would have been done before he went on holiday. It's not fair on the manager, can he go and spend? Can he go and source players now or does he have to wait until July 12?"

When quizzed on how successful Postecoglou can be, he added: "I think it's going to be difficult. If I'm being honest, yes he can improve Tottenham. You look at the clubs around him, they're all spending money and improving. It's going to be difficult for Ange."
