Ange Postecoglou was left in stitches as Australian TV hosts showed him a clip of Alan Brazil deriding his appointment as Celtic manager.
The Australian was virtually unheard of in the UK when he was brought in to replace Neil Lennon in the summer after a long-running pursuit of Eddie Howe.
He was accomplished in Japan and in his homeland but had yet to make a name for himself in Europe.
Even some among the Celtic faithful were doubtful but Postecoglou has since won over their hearts and minds by leading a charge to the top of the Premiership.
As they sit three points clear at the top with eight games remaining, a few who criticised the appointment at the time have been left with egg on their face.
And that includes former Scotland striker Alan Brazil who was at a loss when the news broke – even mispronouncing the Australian's name on talkSPORT.
Postecoglou was shown a clip of Brazil's quotes on Australian TV channel Prime7 and he was in hysterics along with the hosts as they mocked his derisive assessment.
Announcing the news as it broke on live radio, Brazil said: “I’m not sure I want to read this out to be honest, is this a wind up?
“Breaking news coming out of Scotland here as Celtic have applied for exemption with UEFA for Yokohama Marinos boss Poste-coo-gloo to manage in Europe.
“He does not hold the required UEFA Pro Licence… this has god to be a wind-up. He’d be a great manager. Where do they come up with these guys from!”
The host responded: “That’s Alan Brazil who has played for Scotland and clearly eaten humble pie - quite a bit of it!”
A co-host chipped in: “That’s quite friendly for a Glaswegian. It must be kinda fun running into these guys because you have proved them wrong, they’ve changed their tune completely and the fans themselves are singing your praises.”
And upon being shown a clip of Celtic fans chanting his name to the tune of "Last Christmas," a laughing Postecoglou added: "Before I even got the job they said do you understand when you become Celtic manager half of Glasgow loves you and the other half absolutely hates and detests you.
"I said… that’s only if I’m successful.”
