Ange Postecoglou in Brendan Rodgers Celtic callback as he jokes he doesn't want fans 'stopping on the freeway'

Ange Postecoglou has joked he doesn't want fans "stopping on the freeway" to come and say hi, in an apparent call-back to Brendan Rodgers ' famous motorway story.

The Celtic boss has made himself a hero in Glasgow's East end, reclaiming the Premiership title from Rangers at the first time of asking.

His celebrity status at Parkhead has made his normal life difficult to navigate as rarely a day goes by where he isn't approached by an adoring fan.

Postecoglou insists he's grateful for the support and knows he'd have done the same as a youngster.

But he says he wants his family to live "a normal life" in Glasgow.

The Australian also appeared to reference Rodgers' famous story, where he claimed a Rangers fan got out of his car in a traffic jam to come and pay his respects.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Postecoglou said: "Obviously my profile is very high. I don't want my to young boys, and us as a family, to not experience life here.

"I want them to do things as normal but normal becomes abnormal when you're halfway through a sandwich and people want to take a selfie."

And with a wry smile, Postecoglou added: "You're driving down the freeway and people are stopping traffic and getting out of cars to take a selfie with you.

"But you've got to be kind. Every time that happens to me, I always go back to six or seven-year-old me. I think if that was me, and it was someone I admire, it would make my day if that person said hello or gave me a smile.

"Ultimately what we want to do is live the life here that any family can."
