Ange Postecoglou admits he WANTS his players getting noticed as transfer interest in Josip Juranovic heats up.
The Celtic star had a brilliant World Cup campaign for Croatia with his nation reaching the last four of the competition before defeat to Lionel Messi and Argentina. His performance in the quarter-final win over Brazil caught the eye of supporters and pundits with elite clubs circling. Roma are said to have joined the chase with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Torino, Chelsea and Manchester United all previously named.
The Hoops defender will miss the third-place play-off against Morocco later today due to injury and will make his return to the Premiership champions next week. The Celtic boss is delighted at the performance of all his players at the World Cup and the spotlight on them is something he is happy with. He said: “We want clubs looking at our players, we want people talking about our football club and I think they are all positive things. It is great he is getting noticed. I want our players getting noticed. If they weren’t getting noticed they wouldn’t be doing well.
“I don’t even think about it. At the end of the day, I hope all of our players are getting the attention because it means we have good players here. From my perspective, I think all our boys did really well at the World Cup and that’s a reflection of how they are developing as footballers at our football club.
“I think that is the most important thing. I’m sure a lot of our players are getting attention and will continue to get attention and that’s what we want.”
Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi have already put pen to paper ahead of the January transfer window with work still going on behind the scenes with the potential for more arrivals.
Speaking of plans ahead of the window opening in a couple of weeks, he added: “We’re still working on a few things. Whether they will happen or not, we will see.
“If I feel something is there that will make us stronger then, as much as Michael (Nicholson) and Chris (McKay) may want to have a quiet Christmas, I’m going to keep them working over that time and keep them on their toes!
“We’re still working on things. No guarantee what will happen, but we’ve not even hit January yet, so we’ll see how things transpire. But it’s great to have Alistair and Yuki in. They have a couple of weeks to settle before they are available and we’ll see what else transpires over the next few weeks.”
