Ange Postecoglou is not warming to the prospect of Celtic pressing on with a guard of honour at Ibrox in tomorrow's Old Firm clash - labelling the notion as 'no big deal'.
Celtic winning the title away at Hearts last weekend would typically mean that the club they faced directly after the sealing of the trophy would have to give them a guard of honour. Unfortunately for those in Light Blue, the fixture list wasn't kind - with many sweating buckets at the thought of having to clap their bitter rivals onto the pitch to reward them for their success.
With Celtic turning down a similar offer when Rangers won the Scottish Premiership in 2020/21, fans of the Ibrox side had verbally made their thoughts clear on what they wanted the club to do should that eventuality spring up in conversation. But Hoops boss Postecoglou has put that idea to bed by saying that respect can be shown in other ways - labelling the guard of honour 'no big deal'.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Aussie said: “Mate, it’s not a big deal for me. I think it’s a bit symbolic rather than anything real, I think respect is shown in different ways - you don’t need a guard of honour to know that.
“I think there’s respect between the two sides and certainly between the two sets of players, because it might be begrudging but they know how hard it is to be successful.
"Rangers were two years ago, we have been in the last two years, so I think that respect is there and you don’t need a guard of honour for that.”
