Angad Bedi on workout, transformation, the right diet and hydration

'Dear Zindagi' actor Angad Bedi is no doubt a fitness motivation. He recently won silver in his first sprinting tournament which was held in Mumbai. For the same he took training and sprinting lessons from Brinston Miranda, world's number 5 hurdle sprinter.

Angad has talked about his workout and training routine under the supervision of Miranda. "I am training for 7 days a week. I listen to my body. There is a lot that goes into it like diet, recovery. There is muscle soreness as well. The credit of my transformation goes to Brinston Miranda, who is not just my coach, he is my guru as well," Bedi told ETimes-TOI exclusively.

"He has helped me transform. I have not reached there yet, it's a journey which I am on. Mentally he keeps me aligned. He keeps me level headed and tells me how important it is to enjoy what I am doing," he said about his coach Brinston Miranda.

Gym craze among young adults is rising: Here are few dos and don'ts

On diet and nutrition, Angad has a very balanced and germane answer. "I am eating very very clean. There is a balanced diet. Yes, the protein intake is high. I don't take refined sugar, but I prefer taking substitutes like khajoor and sweet potato. Having high protein does not mean my carb intake is zero. I consume khus khus, quinoa as complex carbs. I stay away from chicken, but I focus on sea food. Fish is important," he says.

"Because of the monsoon, I might make changes in my diet. I always keep my diet light. I will shift to tofu and black channa for protein once the rain sets in. Plant foods also offer good protein contrary to what many assume that animal foods are good sources of protein," he adds about his diet plan.

He also talks on water intake which is often ignored by gym goers. "Hydration is important. I remain on tracks for 4 days a week and the rest of the week I am in the gym focusing on plyometric exercises. On my day off, I go into active recovery," he says.

Sleep has been a disappointment but I try to get 6-7 hours of sleep, he adds.

The actor will soon be seen in a legal drama series "A legal affair" which is an adaptation of a Korean drama.
