Andy Robertson is ready to underline his importance to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and fill the void left by the injured Trent-Alexander Arnold.
The two Liverpool full-backs have been in stunning form this term, establishing themselves as one of the most dangerous and productive tandems in world football. Robertson has 10 Premier League assists, with Alexander-Arnold chipping in with 13 contributions (11 assists and two goals) from the other side.
But the reds will be without the England international for a number of weeks after suffering a hamstring injury ahead of their FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest. Klopp has already admitted that replacing Alexander-Arnold is a nigh-on impossible task, but Robertson is desperate to hold up his end of the bargain from his left-back berth.
“It is the full package of Robbo, not only as a player but as a person as well. He desperately wants to deliver and work for the team,” said Klopp. “Even though he and Trent set up a lot of goals, there is still space for improvement in the decisive moments.
“The goal [at Arsenal ] was one of our favourite goals for a long time; first we win the ball back and second Robbo is waiting with his cross until he saw that Bobby [Firmino] is now ready for it.
“It was an incredible pass in the end and Bobby had to do a lot to get it past Ramsdale. Yes [he] played a really good game. It is not the first one and I hope it is not the last one.”

Alexander-Arnold’s injury setback comes at the worst possible time, with Liverpool still competing on all fronts, having already lifted the Carabao Cup. Mirror Football understands that the 23-year-old is hopeful of returning next month, when they face-off against Manchester City in what looks to be a title decider.
In his absence, Klopp suggested that James Milner could deputise, while he also opened the door for Joe Gomez to enjoy a more regular run in the starting XI, having fell down the centre-back pecking order.
“Trent is out with a hamstring, so he will cannot be part of England as well,” confirmed the Reds boss. “No good news, so we will see how long that takes.
We will see how long it will take but, of course, to replace Trent is difficult but possible. We always did it.
“The way he plays, I don’t know any player who plays like Trent in the world. So it will be difficult to find a one versus one replacement.
“We have Joe [Gomez]. Theoretically we can change the system as well. These kinds of things, so we have a couple of options, but you are right he is very influential.
“If you look in the past when Milly [Milner] had to step in he did incredibly well. Incredibly well. He just has to be available and then that is fine. I don’t know if he will [be available] for Sunday.
