On Thursday Matt Nagy explained what he wants to see from the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver corps, and what the players need to do to improve on as training camp moves along. Head coach Andy Reid seems to be on the same page as the seasoned coordinator after going into detail about what his receivers need to focus on in practice and preseason games during the Chiefs’ post-practice presser on Friday.
“The thing you are looking for here is retention of all the plays,” Reid explained. “Opportunity to catch the ball in tight quarters, contested throws, you get that part of it. You have to see the [preseason] game, see what happens.”
In training camp, there has been mostly a positive vibe surrounding the receiving corps, as players like Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross, and Rashee Rice have consistently put together impressive practice sessions.
It will be interesting to see how Reid’s offense functions during the preseason with so many young weapons, and who will be receiving first-team reps.
The Chiefs will kick off their preseason on Aug.13 against the Saints in New Orleans at 12 p.m.
