Andy Burnham says he is ‘grateful’ for public support after death of father

  • Prime Minister Andy Burnham has thanked the public and political party leaders for their messages of support following the death of his father, Roy.
  • Downing Street confirmed earlier in the week that Roy had passed away after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, leading Mr Burnham to cancel several engagements.
  • In a statement on X, the Prime Minister said his family had been greatly helped through the difficult time by people’s warmth and compassion.
  • Mr Burnham previously shared how care home staff helped his father watch news coverage of him entering Downing Street for the first time as Prime Minister.
