Andy Burnham has agreed to give train drivers on the country's key London to Manchester line a substantial pay rise amid concerns over potential strikes.
In his first major public sector wage deal since becoming Prime Minister, Burnham has accepted a pay deal with union representatives for Avanti West Coast, which runs services between London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
