Equalities minister Bridget Phillipson has been appointed Labour Party chairwoman by Andy Burnham, who has tasked her with driving a "culture change" within the party.

Mr Burnham emphasised that Ms Phillipson would ensure Labour remains focused on "delivering for working people".
