Andros Townsend has heaped praise on World Cup breakout star Goncalo Ramos amid rumours linking him with a move to Everton.
The 21-year-old forward announced himself on the biggest stage of them all earlier this week, netting a superb hat trick for Portugal during their 6-1 thrashing of Switzerland in the last-16. Replacing veteran Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting XI, the Benfica man captured the headlines with his stock only rising.
Linked with a move to a whole host of Premier League sides including Manchester United and Everton, Ramos has enjoyed a stellar start to the domestic season as well. Finding the net 14 times in 21 appearances for the Eagles, the star has seemingly filled the void left by Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.

With Frank Lampard expected to want to bolster his options in the January transfer window, Townsend has shown his admiration for Ramos, most recently insisting the way he dealt with the pressure cast upon his shoulders was second to none.
“I can’t tell you the pressure he would have been under to come in and replace Cristiano Ronaldo,” wrote Townsend in his Mirror column. “If it didn’t go well, it would have been his fault and the manager’s fault. So to not only play well, but score a hat-trick? Honestly, he’s definitely catapulted himself onto the world stage.”
With Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray mustering only six strikes between them so far in the Premier League this season, an attacking addition would appear to be the club's biggest need at present.
