In a normal year, Andrew Whitworth would be preparing to start mandatory minicamp with the Rams this week. But because he retired this offseason, he’s got different responsibilities this time of year.
Instead of getting in football shape, Whitworth has been tasked with making grocery store runs. He shared a funny Instagram post from the grocery store parking lot on Monday, giving fans a little update on retirement life.
Big Whit already looks like “Slightly Less Big Whit” in his post-playing days, looking quite slim compared to the weight he was playing at just four short months ago. But retirement seems to be treating him well.
Even though he’s doing grocery runs now, Whitworth has said several times that he still plans to remain around football in one form or another. Whether it’s running a team or analyzing the game as a studio personality, Whitworth wants to stay close to the sport he grew up loving.
He hasn’t yet settled on what that next step will be, but Whitworth probably won’t be going very far.
