Andreas Christensen drops shock U-turn Chelsea transfer hint amid fresh £80m Wesley Fofana bid

Andreas Christensen has dropped an interesting hint that he could return to Chelsea amid Barcelona's well-documented financial troubles. Despite having penned a four-year deal at the Camp Nou this summer, the 26-year-old faces an increasingly uncertain future with the Spanish giants.

According to ESPN, Christensen could leave Xavi's side for free if he's not registered before Saturday's LaLiga opener against Rayo Vallecano. The report states that the Denmark international will be granted the option to execute a clause in his contract with Barcelona that allows him to leave for free.

With two days until the deadline and defender yet to be formally registered, the former Chelsea defender has dropped a hint on social media that an exit from Catalonia could be closer than expected. Christensen has taken to Instagram; he's deleted a post of his which announced his move to Barcelona and changed his profile picture back to one of him in a Blues shirt holding the Champions League trophy.

Many fans have conspired that his activity not only hints at an exit from the Spanish side but also a potential return to Stamford Bridge. While nothing is confirmed as it stands, Christensen's social media choices have fallen in line with the west Londoners' pursuit of Wesley Fofana.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Blues this summer as Thomas Tuchel looks to bolster his backline following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and, ironically, Christensen. football.london understand a new and improved third offer for the Leicester City defender is expected to go in this week.

While the summer transfer window is coming to a close, Chelsea are said to have growing confidence that Brendan Rodgers' side will cash in.

Sources have also told football.london that Fofana is pushing for a move away from Leicester. And, Tuchel wants to bring another centre-back to the club before the transfer window closes at the start of next month.
