Andre Agassi spent much of his childhood on the tennis court, pushed from a young age towards becoming the champion his father wanted him to be. Decades later, after building a family with fellow tennis great Steffi Graf, Agassi found himself looking at childhood from a very different perspective.
His experience shaped the way he approached parenthood. Agassi has summed up that change in a line that says a great deal about his journey: “I gave up my childhood to be able to have my children’s childhood.” For him, raising children was not about creating another generation of tennis champions. It was about being there while his children simply grew up.
