Andi Weimann says Bristol City have proven they have enough about them to challenge towards the summit of the Championship this season.
The Austrian, who has been called up to his nation's international fixtures against France and Croatia later this month, says that the overall performance against Norwich despite defeat is further evidence of how far the club have come compared to last campaign.
City will head to Turf Moor with confidence knowing they are capable of troubling Vincent Kompany's team who have been fancied for an immediate return to the Premier League as they continue to implement a new blend of possession football. His team sit fifth with three wins, five draws and just one defeat this season.
Despite the threat Kompany's side possesses having spent over £20million on player recruitment this summer, Weimann admits the Robins will continue to play fast, attacking football to put the hosts on the back foot with ambitions of causing an upset.
Following the defeat at Carrow Road, he told BBC Bristol's Ed Hadwin: "We showed a lot of character and gave ourselves a mountain to climb with two mistakes.
"I think maybe last year we would have lost four or five nil and that shows how far we've come. To be disappointed to come here and not get something out of the game, I think we deserved it.
"There's a good feeling in the group. We know how good we are, we know we can create chances. I think in the long run we can take the positives. It's a long season and if we carry on playing that way, I think we can definitely challenge.
"We've just got to switch to Burnley now, play exactly the same way and hopefully get something out of the game. They've obviously changed their style a little bit.
"We know what everybody can do. We know what everybody that steps onto the pitch can bring. Everyone's going to look out for each other and there's a real togetherness in the group this season. We're feeling good.
"We've played nine games now so there's 37 to go. It's a very long season and we've got this game on Saturday then there's two weeks break for the internationals."
Weimann says the side are already looking ahead until after the international break with an intense run of fixtures before the unusual three-week break during the World Cup.
As it stands, City have 10 league matches pencilled in between October 1 and November 12 when there is a pause in the campaign before returning to take on Rotherham on December 10. City's postponed clash with Preston could also take place during that relentless run on top of the Carabao Cup third-round contest with Lincoln.
And Weimann admits that period will be crucial in determining City's season. He added: "I think in October there are about 10 league games before the World Cup break so that will be a big part of our season. After that, we can then see where we are.
"We feel good, we want to challenge and we'll see where we end up."
