The Chittoor I-Town police on Thursday arrested a youth and seized 50 lottery tickets from him. The sale of lottery tickets is banned in Andhra Pradesh, said the police.
Circle-Inspector Narasimha Raju said that acting on a tip-off, a police team rushed to the Old Bus Stand and took Johar into custody and seized the lottery tickets. The accused used to sell lottery tickets to gullible people. He was produced before the court and was remanded.
The police officer said that surveillance teams had been deployed in various corners in Chittoor to check activities such as sale of lottery tickets, ganja and other prohibited goods. He urged the people to inform the police in case they came across any such activity.
