Andhra Pradesh's rain forcast looks a little different from its neighbour Telangana this Saturday. Instead of a wet, cloud-covered day, most of the state is looking at a mix of humid heat and only scattered spells of rain, with the India Meteorological Department's Amaravati centre flagging isolated to scattered showers across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam through the week, running from July 15 right up to July 21.
Andhra Weather Today: What's Happening In Vijayawada And Visakhapatnam
Vijayawada is currently cloudy with the temperature sitting around 28°C, and the city is expected to touch a high near 32°C by afternoon. The chance of rain today stands at 50 percent, so a spell of showers or thundery activity isn't out of the question.

Visakhapatnam, meanwhile, is likely to remain mostly cloudy with similar temperatures, around 29°C currently, climbing to a high of roughly 31°C. The port city's rain chance today is comparatively lower at 25 percent, though that's expected to jump sharply to around 60 percent by Sunday, making tomorrow the wetter of the two days for Vizag.
Down south in Tirupati and the wider Rayalaseema belt, the story is drier and hotter. The region is currently cloudy at around 27°C with a daytime high pushing close to 33°C, and rain chances today hover at 25 percent. The IMD's forecast has flagged isolated heatwave-like conditions over Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh through July 19, alongside maximum temperatures running above normal in a few pockets.
Andhra Weather: A Patchy, Deficient Monsoon So Far
Andhra Pradesh has received only about 86.5 mm of rainfall on average between June 1 and July 17 against a normal of nearly 167 mm for the period, a shortfall of close to 48 percent. That kind of deficit explains why, even with scattered showers dotting the coast this week, the state hasn't seen the sustained, heavy spells that have periodically drenched Telangana and other parts of the peninsula this July.
Andhra Weekend Forecast For the Next Few Days
For Vijayawada, Sunday should bring a bit of relief from rain chances, dropping to around 25 percent with highs nearing 34°C, before climbing again on Monday to roughly 55 percent as temperatures peak close to 34°C. Wednesday looks like the standout wet day on the current outlook, with rain probability rising to around 70 percent.
Visakhapatnam's pattern runs almost in reverse, Sunday is shaping up as the wettest day of the stretch at around 60 percent, easing to 40 percent on Monday and tapering further through the middle of next week.
Rayalaseema stays comparatively dry throughout, with rain chances mostly in the 10-20 percent range over the next several days and daytime highs pushing towards 34-35°C, reinforcing the heat-dominant pattern the IMD has flagged for the region.
Andhra Rain Alert And Travel Advisory
- Coastal residents should stay updated on wind advisories; fishermen are typically cautioned against venturing into the sea during gusty spells.
- With daytime highs climbing past 33-34°C in several districts, those stepping out in Rayalaseema and parts of the coast should stay hydrated and avoid peak afternoon sun where possible.
- Motorists in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam should watch for wet roads and reduced visibility during sudden showers, particularly around the evening commute.
- Farmers should track local IMD district bulletins closely given how patchy this year's rainfall has been, before planning irrigation or field operations.
