Unguturu Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) president Pulapaka Prasanna Lakshmi of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) succumbed to a head injury following a road accident on the Anandapuram Bridge at Garapadu in Krishna district.
The mishap occurred on Tuesday, while the 29-year-old Prasanna Lakshmi died while undergoing treatment at the Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation at Chinna Avutapalli on Wednesday.
According to Unguturu police, Prasanna Lakshmi and her husband P. Ratna Kumar were riding a motorcycle from Telaprolu village to Mukkapadu on Tuesday night after attending a prayer meeting.
At around 8.40 p.m., Mr. P. Ratna Kumar lost control on the vehicle after going over a pothole on the Ananapuram Bridge, said Karumuri Samuel, father of Prasanna Lakshmi in his statement to the Unguturu police.
As per the first information report, Prasanna Lakshmi sustained head injuries and was shifted to the hospital where she died. Prasanna Lakshmi was a native of Vambay Colony in Vijayawada and was married to Mr. Ratna Kumar six years ago.
Unguturu police have registered a case of death caused due to negligence under 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), based on the complaint filed by the victim's father.
