Andhra Pradesh: Minor girl raped on pretext of marriage in Anakapalle

VISAKHAPATNAM: A 15-year-old girl was raped by a neighbour at a village in Anakapalle district for two years on the pretext of marriage.

Police said that the survivor, a student, was a neighbour of the accused. The accused had befriended the girl and had promised to marry her.

Police investigation revealed that the girl had given over 11 lakh in cash from an almirah in her house to the accused and his family members. The girl’s father was shocked to see only 82,000 cash in the almirah and came to know that his daughter was lured into parting with the cash by the accused.

The victim and her parents lodged a complaint against the accused and his family members.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
