VIZIANAGARAM: The Vizianagaram police arrested an engineering assistant with Gramasachivalayam of village under S Kota police station limits for cheating his girlfriend, who is a woman police at the Gramasachivalayam under the guise of love and marriage and defaming her.
The arrested accused has been identified as 24-year-old R Naveen.
Inspector of S Kota police station, S Simhadri Naidu said that Naveen entered a relationship with a woman, who works as Mahila Police. He promised to marry her and started dating. The duo had taken the photographs (intimate) and selfies together. The elders of Naveen and the woman agreed to the marriage proposal.
However, Naveen demanded some money from the woman’s parents citing that he will construct a house and purchase some items. When the woman’s parents expressed inability to give the money, Naveen rejected the marriage proposal with her.
There have been arguments between Naveen and the woman for the past two months.
Naveen used the intimate pictures to defame the woman and he sent some pictures to her father. He threatened the woman and her parents to upload the photos and selfies on social networking platforms.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Naveen was arrested under sections of 376 of IPC, and relevant sections of IT Act.
He was produced before the court for judicial remand, the police added.
