VIJAYAWADA: The increasing number of crimes against women is a challenge for the state government. Though the special initiative called Disha brought in by the state government has bettered crime detection, it has not become a deterrent in controlling the crimes against women.
The state government has come under criticism with a series of incidents reported in April. The overall data also suggest that crimes against women are on the rise in the state.
