In a massive boost to the volunteers in ward and village secretariats, the State is giving incentives in the form of cash and awards in recognition of their service during the last year.
Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy will facilitate village and ward volunteers at Narsaraopet on Thursday. The volunteers had done a tremendous service during the two waves of COVID-19.
“The awards are being given in recognition of services of volunteers, who have been distributing pensions on the first day of every month at the doorstep of beneficiaries, and ensuring all welfare schemes reach to the door step of all and creating awareness among the people on the numerous welfare schemes,’’ said Mr. Jagan.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is giving away cash rewards to the tune of ₹258.74 crore to 2.33 lakh volunteers. In the year 2021-22, the government gave ₹226.7 crore.
The awards are categorised into Seva Vajra which carries a cash award of ₹30,000, a certificate and a badge. As many as 875 volunteers belonging to 175 constituencies would be given the award.
Seva Ratna, which carries a cash award of ₹.20,000, is given to five best performing volunteers in municipality/mandal, 10 volunteers in municipal corporation limits. As many as 4,136 volunteers are being given the award.
Seva Mitra, carries an reward of ₹10,000 and 2.28 lakh volunteers are being given the cash incentive.
The volunteers have been identified on the basis of transparency, zero tolerance to corruption, pension distribution and sanction of Rice Cards and Aarogyasri pensions, etc.
