TIRUPATI: The Chittoor Police arrested a seven-member land-grabbing gang involved in creating fake documents for land registrations.
After a victim identified as Dinesh Kumar, resident of Kattanchi locality in Chittoor town in Andhra Pradesh, recently lodged a complaint with the Chittoor I town police, SP Y Rishanth Reddy appointed a special team, led by DSP N Sudhakar Reddy, to launch a probe.
During the course of the investigation it emerged that the accused — identified as N Rajasekhar Reddy, D Yamuna, D Karunakar Reddy, V Jayachandra Reddy, N Surendra Babu, D Sekhar and S Ashok Kumar — connived with government officials in the revenue, stamps and registrations departments and managed to create fake documents and complete unlawful registrations for various properties approximately worth Rs 50 crore.
Chittoor SP Y Rishanth Reddy has now directed DSP N Sudhakar Reddy and his team to further probe the involvement of government officials in this whole racket.
