Anderson Cooper, the Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning CNN prime-time anchor, will host a new Sunday prime-time series for the cable news network called “The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper.”
CNN Chairman and CEO Chris Licht announced Thursday that the weekly series will feature single-subject episodes from the network’s award-winning longform storytelling team that will include investigations, interviews and profiles.
The show is set to premiere April 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
“Powered by CNN’s unmatched global journalism operation, ‘The Whole Story’ goes behind the headlines, touching every continent and corner of the planet, as we bring our viewers into the heart of the essential stories of our time,” Licht said in a statement.
Executive produced by Susan Chun, episodes of “The Whole Story” will take a deep dive into stories such as the political and social issues plaguing San Francisco, claims that Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based baby powder caused cancer, and the upcoming coronation of King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.
Like CBS’s long-running “60 Minutes,” for which Cooper has been a reporter since 2007, the new series will feature CNN anchors and correspondents including Sara Sidner, Pamala Brown, David Culver, Erica Hill and Nick Paton Walsh.
A rep for Cooper told the Daily News Thursday that the new series won’t impact Cooper’s role on “60 Minutes,” which airs at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
