The Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That, which aired on UK screens last December, reunited the cast for the first time since the 2010 film Sex and the City 2. The new series received very mixed reactions from audiences and critics, but despite this the show became HBO Max’s most popular and highest viewed show since the launch of the American streaming platform.
The first season of the show followed Carrie as she tried to recover after the loss of Mr Big, while also following Miranda and the early days of her relationship with new character Che Diaz. Charlotte had a less chaotic season one of the show, with her main concerns being getting to grips with having a non-binary child.

A second season of the show was announced by writer Michael Patrick King on March 21, so in preparation for that here is everything we know about the upcoming season.
When is the release date for season 2?
There is no official release date yet for season 2 of And Just Like That.
What are the Cast and Crew saying?
King, the writer of the show, made the announcement of the show’s renewal via HBO Max, he stated: “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”
Sarah Jessica Parker also made an announcement, on her Instagram, writing “Season 2. Thank you to our audience. Plain and simple. You are our heartbeat. We love you so.”
Are all the cast returning for season 2?
The core three actors - Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis - are all but guaranteed to be heavily featured in the next season of the show. But, the extremely noticeable absence of Kim Catrall’s Samantha is likely to remain the same in season 2 with King saying bluntly: “I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again.” Despite this, Carrie agreed to meet up with Samantha, so maybe fans could be getting the reunion they so desire.
Chris Noth is another actor who won’t be appearing in season 2, despite his character's death, Mr Big could have potentially returned for flashbacks or a dream sequence, but this was ruled unlikely when multiple sexual assault allegations were made against Noth. This resulted in a cancellation of his cameo in And Just Like That’s season finale.
Another character who won’t be appearing in season 2 is Willie Garson, who starred in 27 episodes of the original series as Stanford Blatch, who sadly died of cancer two weeks after he was filming his episode of And Just Like That. A character certain to return is Che, played by Sara Ramirez, who has heavily intertwined into the lives of Miranda and Carrie.
What to expect in season 2?
You should expect a continuation of Carrie still coming to terms with the loss of her husband, as well a romance with Franklyn, the producer of her new podcast Sex and the City. For Miranda season 2 should show the results of her following Che to Los Angeles, while also dealing with the fallout of her divorce with Steve and her rejecting a prestigious human rights internship.
In season 2 Charlotte will most likely be continuing to try and support their child Rock and their decisions as a non-binary person and the outcome of her replacing Rock and having her own bar mitzvah. But due to a fairly quiet season for Charlotte, a big change may be coming her way.
