Ancient Islands Discovered In Atlantic Ocean, Potential Origin Of Atlantis.

The 'origins of Atlantis' discovered off the coast of Lanzarote

Deep in the Atlantic Ocean, a team of researchers has made a groundbreaking discovery of ancient islands that may have served as the inspiration for the legendary lost city of Atlantis. The islands were found on an underwater mountain located approximately 2.3 kilometers off the coast of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

Named 'Lost Atlantes' by scientists, these landmasses are believed to have existed around 56 to 34 million years ago. The islands were once topped by three inactive volcanoes, which eventually solidified and sank into the ocean due to the densification of the lava.

Despite millions of years passing, the islands have retained distinct features such as beaches, cliffs, and sand dunes at their flat summit. Some of these beaches are just 60 meters below the ocean's surface, indicating that the islands would have resurfaced during the last ice age when sea levels were lower.

Researchers plan to analyze volcanic rock samples to determine the exact timeline of the islands' submersion. An upcoming expedition to the underwater volcanoes is scheduled for next year, with hopes of uncovering more secrets from this ancient site.

This discovery sheds new light on the potential origins of the Atlantis myth and offers valuable insights into the geological history of the Atlantic Ocean. Stay tuned for further updates as scientists delve deeper into the mysteries of the Lost Atlantes.
