Analyzing Titans’ snap counts from Week 16 loss

The Tennessee Titans entered their Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks without the services of several starters, and especially on the defensive side of the ball.

The list of missing starters included defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, safeties Amani Hooker and K’Von Wallace, linebacker Jack Gibbens and cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Kristian Fulton.

On offense, the Titans were without their starting quarterback, Will Levis, and right guard Daniel Brunskill.

So, how did the Titans fill their many voids on Christmas Eve? Find out now as we take a look at Tennessee’s snap counts from the Week 16 loss at the hands of the Seahawks.

-With Daniel Brunskill out, Andrew Rupcich got the nod at right guard and played every snap. Jaelyn Duncan was pulled from left tackle in favor of Andre Dillard after 35 snaps.

-Rookie John Ojukwu saw 18 snaps as an extra blocker.

-DeAndre Hopkins led all Titans receivers in snaps, followed by Chris Moore and Treylon Burks. Colton Dowell’s 14 offensive snaps were the second-most he’s had in a game this season. Mason Kinsey had a season-high three snaps.

-Tyjae Spears out-snapped Derrick Henry, seeing the field for five more plays.

-With Sean Murphy-Bunting out, Eric Garror saw increased playing time. Tre Avery was once again the solution to fill the void left by Kristian Fulton.

-At safety, Mike Brown and Elijah Molden were the beneficiaries of the absences of Amani Hooker and K’Von Wallace.

-The Titans deployed rookie Otis Reese and recently-signed Garret Wallow in place of Jack Gibbens, with the former seeing more than double the snaps of the latter.

-With Big Jeff out and TK McLendon a healthy scratch, Marlon Davidson got a great opportunity at more playing time. Jaleel Johnson actually saw his snap count go down as compared to the two previous games. Keondre Coburn and Quinton Bohanna also chipped-in.

-Despite both finally being active, neither Caleb Murphy nor Trevis Gipson played a snap. Tennessee not utilizing Gipson more this season has been puzzling, to say the least.
