Ana de Armas looks just like Marilyn Monroe in new pictures released from film biopic

Ana de Armas transformed into Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe in new behind-the-scenes stills from the upcoming movie Blonde.

The film is based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates and is a fictionalised narrative of Marilyn's life, from her relationship with her father and ending with her death.

Others starring in the movie include Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.

Ana recently shared new pictures from the movie, with Ana perfectly embodying the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star.

One snap showed Ana recreating a classic scene from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She wore the famous bright pink dress and elegant gloves - which was designed by William Travilla.

She was taking direction from a choreographer who showed her how to perfectly copy Marilyn's moves when she sings 'Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend.

Another picture saw Ana sitting by a window next to Bobby, who plays Marilyn's ex-husband Joe DiMaggio.

The first snap showed Ana perfectly recreating Marilyn's joyful smile as she stood by Adrian, who stars as playwright Arthur Miller.

Ana praised fellow cast and crew members in the caption, writing: "It was such a gift to get to work with actors like @adrienbrody and @bobby_cannavale on this beautiful project.

"Can’t wait for everyone to see the wonderful work they do in this film. #andrewdominik."

Blonde is set for release on September 23 and is Netflix's first NC-17 rating for an original film due to some graphic sexual content.

In a recent interview with Vulture, director Andrew Dominik said the film's content and its portrayal of the late film star could prove controversial.

The filmmaker said: "On the one hand, I think if I'm given the choice, I'd rather go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story.

"Because we know that her life was on the edge, clearly, from the way it ended. Do you want to see the warts-and-all version or do you want to see that sanitized version?"

He continued: "If it had come out a few years ago, it would have come out right when Me Too hit and it would have been an expression of all that stuff.

"We're in a time now, I think, where people are really uncertain about where any lines are.

"It's a film that definitely has a morality about it. But it swims in very ambiguous waters because I don't think it will be as cut-and-dried as people want to see it.

"There's something in it to offend everyone."
