Novartis has announced that its oral drug remibrutinib reduced relapse rates significantly more than teriflunomide in two identical Phase 3 trials in adults with relapsing multiple sclerosis, and reported no liver safety signal, an issue that has troubled other drugs in the same class.
The company released topline results on September 1, 2026, from the REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2 studies, which enrolled roughly 2,000 patients globally. Both trials met their primary endpoint of annualized relapse rate and showed superiority on all key secondary endpoints within each trial, including reductions in MRI lesions.
