An iPhone has sold for €35,000 at auction in the UK, 15 years after it was officially released.
The first generation device was sold for $35,414, (€35,6661) and still in its original plastic sealed packaging.
The original iPhone was first released back in 2007 by Steve Jobs at Macworld in San Francisco, and it’s rare to find a model in the original packaging in such good condition.

The box features a life-size image of the iPhone with twelve icons on the screen, indicating that it is from the earliest production (2007).
Steve Jobs said during his keynote speech that introduced the innovative product that it was ahead of its time.
Jobs said: "iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone."
It was the first iPhone model and the first smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc, and was a game changer in the world of mobile devices.
The iPhone removed nearly all physical controls in favour of an easy-to-use touchscreen interface.
It put the internet into our pockets with the first full-featured mobile web browser, and essentially launched the market for apps with the introduction of the App Store.
Apple products often sell for steep prices at auction.
Development of the iPhone as a product began in 2005 and continued in complete secrecy until its public unveiling.
The iPhone quickly became Apple's most successful product, propelling it to become the most profitable company at the time.
The smartphone only has 8GB of storage - compared to the minimum 128GB available on today's iPhone 13.
12 basic apps can be seen on the small 3.5-inch screen, and a 2MP camera.
Specialist auction house, RR Auction, put the iPhone up for auction as part of a special 'Apple, Jobs, and Computer Hardware' curation.
At the event, they also sold an unopened first-generation original Apple iPod (5GB) which sold for £21,000 (€24912.82).
The auctioned iPod features 5 GB of storage, which Apple said holds up to 1,000 songs.
The renowned tech giant introduced the first-ever iPod in 2001, back when MP3 players like Sony's Walkman were a massive hit.
That same auction featured a rare Apple-1 prototype reportedly owned by Steve Jobs, which sold for $677,196.
It’s highly unlikely you have an unboxed original iPhone lying around, you can still make a decent amount for other vintage Apple products.
Other products such as old iPhones, iPods and Macs that were top-of-the-range a few years ago could now be worth thousands of euro.
On eBay, an iPhone 1st Generation - 4GB - Black Sealed NIB is currently up for sale for €18,024.33.
