Last week, ET reported that the ET reported that the ET Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) stopped cooperating with 22 companies for next two years when they did not honour more than 150 job offers to the 2026 batch. This number of defaulting companies was twice the number last year and the highest in recent years. The students had the IIT brand, a placement office, a committee writing letters and their CVs circulated to other recruiters. You have none of that. A 22-year-old losing a job offer starts slightly late. A 35-year-old with a home loan losing an offer after resigning faces a crisis and with no support system.
