'An important target' - Antonio Conte sends Burnley warning in Everton relegation battle

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has rallied Spurs fans and told them they will have an ‘important role’ to play when they face Everton’s relegation rivals Burnley on Sunday.

Conte was speaking after a 3-0 win over Arsenal on Thursday night which left Tottenham one point and one place behind their north London rivals with one game to play. They host an injury-hit Burnley this weekend who currently sit two points below Everton but have a better goal difference. Everton will be hoping Conte’s men can do them a huge favour on Sunday as the Toffees host Brenftord at 4.30pm, by which point they will know whether they can secure safety with Burnley and Leeds [home to Brighton] both playing before.

“It was amazing,” Conte told Sky Sports after Thursday’s huge win. “For this reason, we must thank the fans because they were incredible from the start until the end and they pushed us a lot. I think we repaid them with a good win because we won an important derby, and now because we are close to them [Arsenal] in the table.

“There is only one point and two games to go, and for sure we needed to recover very well because we are going to play on Sunday. Our fans, they are going to play an important role on Sunday. We need to go altogether. We are very close to reaching an important target for us. There are no easy games for us."
