Amy Hart says she has absolutely no regrets about freezing her eggs before falling in love with boyfriend Sam Rason.
The 28-year-old former Love Island star spent over £10,000 to have her eggs frozen as she feared she would never find love and wanted a back up plan to have a child as a solo parent.
But while she was in the process of planning her egg freezing options, she ended up falling for dashing actor Sam.
Now Amy says she has the best of both worlds as she is head over heels for her man and planning a happy future with him – but also is safe in the knowledge she has a backup plan if things go pear shaped in romance.
She told The Sun: "I say to everyone - if you ever want to meet a boyfriend, spend £10,000 on egg freezing and then you'll meet one.
"A lot of people asked why I did it again even though I met Sam but you never know what's going to happen. I like to be in control of my own life.
"It might end in two years' time and I know I've got that back-up. Also I might need to use those eggs with him, you never know."
Amy has endured four rounds of egg-freezing – with her first two attempts failing before she enjoyed success with her third attempt.
She underwent a fourth procedure earlier this month after being told her AMH level (fertility span) was "quite low".
And while the star was successful with the process, she ended up spending a reported total of £14,000 to complete her egg-freezing journey.
Reports also suggest the cost of freezing eggs in the UK can cost between £125 - £350 per year, while the IVF process when it comes to fertilise those eggs once they are defrosted can cost upwards of £5,000 per cycle.
Some reports estimate the cost of IVF can bet between £6,000 and £10,000 per cycle and some clinics charge as much as £15,000 per cycle.
Amy explained her thoughts on her personal egg-freezing journey last year.
She said: “I have always wanted kids and can’t see myself ever not having them. That is why I wanted to freeze my eggs now, while they are still young and healthy.
“When my first two attempts failed, it sent me into a panic about whether to do IVF and have a baby immediately, because the freezing was not working.
“I felt uncertain about what was going to happen if I went for the third round and it didn’t work.”
She has also discussed that she had been told by doctors that her fertility rates were “concerning”, while she has previously shared that her mum, aunt and grandmother all experienced early menopause in their early forties.
Amy and Sam have been dating since August last year.
Speaking about their romance as she first opened up about their relationship, Amy told her online followers: “We are very happy! Don't settle. Wait for the right person. They will come!”
