Amy Dowden has reminisced about a charity trek for breast cancer that she said 'saved my life.' The 32-year-old from Caerphilly has, in recent weeks, shared the diagnosis and treatment she's receiving for the illness and now she's credited a charity walk with pal Giovanna Fletcher last year as key to finding out about the cancer.
Last summer Amy joined the 2020 I'm a Celebrity winner on a walk to raise money for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel, which aims to give young people the confidence to check themselves and recognise changes.
The walk took place on the Pembrokeshire coast and took in 100km of Welsh scenery. Amy has been close with Giovanna since she was partnered with her husband, McFly's Tom Fletcher back in 2021. When sharing her diagnosis, Amy said that being involved with the charity made her check her own breasts and she discovered her lump just before her honeymoon in April.

Amy vowed to get her walking shoes on once again for next year's trek as she wrote: "Such amazing treks for such an important reason," after mentioning that the trek last year saved her life. Giovanna reshared Amy's memory adding 'love you Amy Dowden' with three love hearts.
The Strictly Come Dancing professional posted her personal news on Instagram back last month, telling her 328,000 followers: "Hey all, I've got some news which isn't easy to share. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm determined to get back on that dancefloor before you know it. Welsh love Amy."
