With the Lok Sabha elections around the corner, Mr. Shah’s visit holds strategic importance in the State which sends 48 MPs to the Lower House, the second highest after Uttar Pradesh with 80 seats.
On Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in Akola, the Home Minister will lead a meeting with the BJP’s election management committee and core committee. The focus will be on discussing the Lok Sabha constituencies of Chandrapur, Buldhana, Akola, Yavatmal, Wardha, and Amravati, Maharashtra BJP unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.
Following the deliberations in Akola, Mr. Shah will visit Jalgaon, where, at 2 p.m., he will address the ‘Maha Yuva Sammelan,’ a youth convention. Later in the day, at 6 p.m., he will take the stage at a public rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
A day preceding Mr. Shah’s visit, the BJP’s national president J.P. Nadda will engage with the youth at the ‘Namo Yuva Sammelan’ in Nagpur on March 4. The event is expected to draw around one lakh youth from Maharashtra.
The party aims to gather opinions from the youth regarding their vision for India’s development, which will be forwarded to the central leadership for inclusion in the party’s election manifesto.
Adding to the political calendar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the ‘Nari Shakti Vandana’ programme through videoconferencing on March 6.
