Amir Khan's wife shares CCTV footage of boxer being robbed at gunpoint for £72k watch

Amir Khan 's wife has shared the CCTV footage of the moment the boxing legend was robbed for his watch at gunpoint in London.

The former two-weight world champion was in Leyton, East London, on Monday evening with his wife Faryal Makhdoom when he claimed to have been robbed by two men for his £72,000 Franck Muller Geneve watch.

Khan posted on social media after the incident to confirm he and his wife were safe, writing: "Just had my watch taken off me at gun point in East London, Leyton. I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was few steps behind me.

"Two men ran to me, he asked for my watch whilst having a gun pointed in my face. The main thing is we’re both safe." Makhdoom has since posted CCTV footage of the moment Khan was confronted by the robbers after he left a restaurant in Leyton with his wife.

In the video Makhdoom posted, two men can be seen exiting a Mercedez Benz vehicle and walking up a road. Just over ten seconds later, two men run back down the road in the direction of the vehicle that had just dropped them off.

"Footage of last night's armed robbery," she wrote. "Two men coming out the car... they knew exactly what time we walked out. Seems like a set up to me, considering we didn't even post where we were. It makes me sick to my stomach to know someone sitting in the restaurant was probably the one plotting this."

Hours before the robbery, Khan was pictured wearing the watch whilst he posed for a photo with a fan inside a JD Sports shop. An eyewitness at the scene told The Sun that Khan was shaken up by the incident, stating: "They [the robbers] were not hanging around. They got straight into the car and fled.

"Amir had enjoyed a lovely evening with his wife and had been shopping earlier in the day. It raises real fears he was a deliberate target. It's extremely serious. He was left absolutely terrified.'"

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police confirmed that a search had been conducted in the area Khan claimed to have been robbed, but they are yet to make any arrests. An official investigation into the incident has been launched.
