Amir Khan has been given three-week deadline to activate his rematch clause with Kell Brook whilst he makes his retirement decision after being defeated in comfortable fashion.
Both Khan and Brook had been urged to retire from multiple ring analysts following their spectacular grudge match in Manchester, with both being past their best after their storied careers. Fans had waited over a decade for the two rivals to face-off in the ring and the bout didn't disappoint, with Brook ultimately ending victorious via a sixth-round stoppage after inflicting heavy punishment upon Khan.
After the fight, Khan all but confirmed he will retire, while Brook toyed with the idea of further bouts - with both Chris Eubank Jr and Connor Benn calling him out. BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom - who had taken the front seat in promoting and booking the first fight between the pair - has admitted it is unlikely that Khan will choose to take up the option, and expects him to retire.

Shalom told talkSPORT : "The problem we’ve got, and no one has mentioned it so far, is that Amir Khan has a rematch clause in his contract.
"It’s not something we would advise and it’s something we don’t think Amir should do, but he does have that option. We have heard murmurs from his camp that he was jet lagged and didn’t take Kell too seriously.
"I don’t think it will happen, but it’s not something in our control. It is something we agreed to before the fight, something Kell agreed to before the fight and he has three weeks to decide if he wants to fight him again.
"Amir got demolished in that fight and I would expect that to happen again. But technically he would be entitled to that rematch."
Khan was second best throughout the fight, with Brook dominating from the first round, landing a number of overhand rights which hurt Khan - and had his legs wobbly from the first round, whilst the Bolton boxer was not able to trouble Brook offensively.
Former boxing greats Andre Ward and Carl Froch have both told Khan and Brook that they should retire.
