Amir Khan and Kell Brook in emotional behind-the-scenes reunion after brutal fight

Kell Brook and Amir Khan showed respect with a handshake during an emotional reunion at the post-fight press conference after their clash.

Brook defeated Khan in the sixth round with a brutal display of power to stop the fight and end their long-term rivalry.

The pair had been extremely hostile in the build-up to the fight with Brook refusing to shake Khan's hand until after the fight.

However Brook kept his promise and the pair shook hands during an emotional reunion backstage with their rivalry coming to a close.

Khan first embraced Brook sporting a clearly bruised face from the significant damage he took during the fight, before shaking hands and readying to do media duties.

The British star was rallied on by a raucous crowd in Manchester during the fight where he failed to assert his control after a bright opening round.

Brook dominated particularly from the fourth period where he was able to let his hands go without being phased by any response from Khan.

The punishment paid off in the sixth round with the referee seeing no option but to step in after Brook unleashed his final barrage of powerful shots to secure the bragging rights.

Khan was respectful in defeat and admitted he "didn't expect" Brook to box well so in the fight and offered "no excuses".

"No excuses the better man won and he boxed out of his skin I have to say," Khan said. "I didn't expect that from him especially from the fights I have seen before.

"No disrespect to Kell he put on a great performance today and he came out to win. At the end of the day we have rivalries but as I say after I punch them we can be friends.

"He put a great performance on and did everything he needed to. He was the best man tonight. I had a great, great training camp, but I just couldn't get going.

“I was missing quite a lot. Kell was on his A-game, all respect goes out to him."

Uncertainty now circles around Khan's career as he may look to hang up his gloves at the age of 35.

The British star is now far from his days of winning world titles and has been left with limited options after a brutal defeat.

Khan has hinted at hanging up his gloves after admitting his "love" for the sport has faded away.

“I've had 40 fights, winning two world titles, fighting in America and around the world," he added.

“I need to sit down with my family. But it is more towards the end of my career.

"The love for the sport isn't there anymore. In the ring, I didn't have excitement and that push.

"That's maybe a sign that I should call it a day but let's see."
